All About Sugar Scrubs

One of the very first products I ever made was a very basic oil-based sugar scrub. I loved it because it was very nourishing to the skin, so I started selling it.

Oil-based sugar scrubs are incredible. There are so many variations of them with many different carrier oils depending on what purpose it's used for. They leave you feeling like a new person when you step out of the shower! I used to add organic coconut oil to mine as it's known for being a natural cleanser for the skin, amongst other things.

As the time went on and the research continued, I discovered that the product I truly desired to make would lather and foam, focusing on cleansing the skin well without the concern for making the skin slick and thus creating a slipping hazard for customers.

In my quest to find this product, I discovered whipped soap and all of the variations that could turn this incredible recipe into many different products giving many positive experiences to customers.

This whipped soap base is made from scratch using the following ingredients:

Distilled water

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate: derived from coconut oil, this mild surfactant cleanses by mixing water with oil and dirt so it can easily be rinsed away.

Glycerin: plant derived, this ingredient draws in moisture so this product will not dry out your skin while also adding to the lather.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine: derived from coconuts, this ingredient is as a secondary surfactant where it will help to build viscosity and offers a smooth feel.

Stearic Acid: helps to harden products and to create a rich lather that feels velvety. It helps the skin to stay hydrated by slowing moisture loss from the skin’s surface.

Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid: this is a broad spectrum preservative used to prevent the growth of mold, fungus and bacteria in water-based products. This is an absolute necessity for not only water-based products but also for products that might be exposed to water or moisture. Products that claim to be all-natural and without preservative that have water or will be exposed to water are NOT SAFE FOR USE even if refridgerated. Also, on a side note, ingredients such as Vitamin E or Rosemary Extract ARE NOT natural preservatives. They may help oil based products extend shelf life, but they WILL NOT prevent the growth of bacteria etc.

From the whipped soap base I have also made Men's Shaving Cream, Rose Water Facial Cleanser, Charcoal & Clay Facial Mask, and Shower Parfaits. All of which are incredible products that have come to be loved by many.

There you have it folks! The complete break down of ingredients. If you have not yet tried a Sugar Scrub from Essential Wellness Bodycare, give it a try! I think you will be pleasantly surprised by your experience.
